About us

At Opsera we design and build technology solutions that will generate value for your organisation. We enable you to promote your products and services, attract new customers and build new revenue streams using web, mobile and offline channels. We work with you to understand your business needs, design your technology architecture, develop applications and implement the supporting infrastructure.

We achieve this using Open Source software and offshore development to deliver the most cost-effective solution for your needs.

Why Open Source?
We believe that the time is right for the widespread adoption of Open Source. Many Open Source technologies are now mature enough to provide real opportunities for you to benefit from high quality, functionally rich, standards-based products, across most areas of application architecture - all at significantly lower prices than comparable proprietary products.

That said, we’re advocates, not zealots: Open Source is great, but there may not be a complete Open Source solution that meets all your needs. Helping you achieve your business objectives is top of our list; so we’ll use our knowledge and experience of both Open Source and proprietary software to integrate the right products in the right way to deliver the best results.

Our focus areas
We work with a wide range of products in four main areas of technology: content management, business intelligence, enterprise architecture integration and infrastructure & systems management. In addition to wide ranging experience of helping high-growth companies, we have deep sector experience in media & publishing, mobile and financial services.

We understand your business and can really add value throughout the process – from the first stages of considering a technology investment right through to design, development and support.

Opsera provides business strategy consulting, technology strategy consulting, business analysis, technical architecture & infrastructure design, and complete development and operational management & support services.

Keeping your costs low
Open Source software may not have a licence cost, but it’s not free either. Open Source products come with a variety of support costs - by server, CPU or application. Our architecture and infrastructure design team can help you determine the best physical model for your requirements and therefore keep your ongoing costs down.

We also use low-cost offshore development when appropriate – through our development partner, we have easy access to a large offshore resource pool, so we can deliver your systems cost-effectively, but save you the extra effort and anxiety of managing an offshore team yourself.

And we can support your applications – enabling you to lower your operating costs and focus on running your core business, rather than managing more IT resources in house.

What makes us different?
Opsera’s success comes from our people and their experience. We are a young company formed from a core group of highly experienced professionals. Many of us worked together at Rubus – an award winning Internet and technology consultancy, which earned an outstanding reputation for fast, effective delivery. Our consulting and technology pedigree, plus our enthusiasm for working in challenging, time-pressured environments, means you can be very confident in our ability to deliver and you can enjoy working with us at the same time.

The work Opsera did for us was terrific. They contributed more than we expected - in addition to project managing the tendering, they really helped to bring clarity to a complicated issue. They know about publishing, and were easy to work with. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to other publishers wrestling with tricky technology decisions.
