Our working style
We approach each engagement with an open view as to how we will work with you. We don't believe in prescriptive methods or rigid working styles. So we can work with you on your site, work at our offices or place some of the development work offshore - or more likely a mixture of all of these approaches. The most important thing is that you get the best value for money through maximising the productivity of your staff and ours during the engagement.
We work as a distributed team and use the latest communication methods to keep you involved and informed - not only email, but also instant messaging, VoIP and on-line feature/issue tracking and management.
We enjoy working in challenging, time-pressured situations where flexibility and speed are as important as on-time delivery. That's why we employ only experienced consultants with track records of delivery in these types of projects.
Our approach to development
Our overall approach to development work is to adopt the practices and methods that are best suited to your needs and the project. We will always follow a disciplined methodology, often using 'agile' techniques (such as XP, TDD or Scrum) to enable you to influence development during the process and bring added flexibility. We will apply our experience of formal methods such as waterfall, RAD, DSDM as well as RUP as appropriate.
We adopt best practices in development using source control branches, unit testing, feature/issue tracking and management software to manage your projects. We use proactive systems monitoring tools, and back-ups are taken on a daily basis and stored off-site. We provide the network connectivity and tools to enable our teams to work in a flexible manner at our office, your office and when mobile. This maximises their productivity and means that we can fit easily with your preferred style of working.
Offshore development
Opsera is experienced in delivering client projects where a significant portion of the work is completed by offshore developers. We bring the cost and quality benefits of an offshore development centre to high-growth businesses which don't necessarily have the scale, experience or management time to set these facilities up directly for themselves.
Opsera manage the communications, quality and risks on your behalf, and use experienced, integrated teams to maximise productivity. Having evaluated and worked with many potential partners, we have selected Satyam Computer Services as our strategic near-shore/offshore partner.
For smaller projects it may be more appropriate to manage the project entirely onshore. In this case, we either bring the offshore developer(s) into our offices to work or we will deliver entirely from our UK-based teams. The key thing is that we will agree with you the most cost-effective approach, rather than expecting you to accept a pre-determined style of development.
